Not only Chinese New Year and Thai New Year but also Western New Year on 1st of January Thai people happily join in the fun of the occasion and it is set to be a public holiday in Thailand.
Unlike others, New Year festival on Koh Phangan has a unique style of celebration which attracts tourists from all over the world to flock here to take part in the famous celebration. The festival is held on Haad Rin beach, the well known beach for Full Moon Party. In the evening on 31st December, people begin the celebration by having well prepared gala dinner with alcoholic drink. After dinner, cloth shop will be crowed of people dressing up with ornament and paint body with neon colors. Along the beach DJs play many styles of music while fireworks displays are organized at many spots around the beach. At midnight people are waiting for countdown to start good life on the next year. Greeting words will be lighted up at the same time with a great set of fireworks shining on the sky. The celebration continues until before noon on New Year day.
